PATRICE CASE

I received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona (Tucson), and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ball State University (Muncie Indiana). I attended Indiana University for 3 years, where I enrolled in a beginning Jewelry and Metals course. My first teaching appointment was at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces as a Visiting Instructor in the Jewelry and Metals program. I currently reside in the beautiful hills of upstate New York where I served as head of the Jewelry and Metals program at SUNY-Geneseo for 25 years. During my tenure at SUNY-Geneseo I attained the rank of full Professor. My current title is Professor of Art-Emeritus. My honors and awards include The Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, several Research and Program Initiative Grants, New York Fellowship Award (NYFA), New York Decentralization Grants, and the distinct privilege of designing and fabricating a silver lanyard for the Presidential medallion.
As an artist and scholar, I am constantly active and engaged visually. Every little crack in the pavement, texture of gravel, or pile of pebbles becomes inspiration for my art. My interpretations of line, texture, form, and color manifest in various ways, from silver to clay to paper, serving pieces, containers, or simply collections and assemblages. What they all have in common is a personal visual vocabulary that is my way of thinking and seeing.
